Sail the serene waters of the beautiful and remote Khutzeymateen, Canada’s first grizzly bear sanctuary. During the months of May through to July, many bears are found on the inlet and estuary as this is when they descend from their winter dens to mate and eat the tender sedge grasses. Often mothers with 1 to 3 cubs can be seen teaching their young survival techniques. During August and September bears gorge on migrating salmon. Your accommodation is the hand built Sun Chaser, a 40 foot motor sail yacht. There are only two licenced operators allowed to operate inside the sanctuary’s boundaries and less then 180 people per year undertake the trips provided. Be one of the privileged few to experience this beautiful area.

When to Go
Sailing tours to Khutzeymateen Grizzly Sanctuary begin at the end of Spring (May) through to early autumn (mid Sep). This is when the weather is pleasant and bears found in the areas. Please note that this is one of the most remarkable grizzly bear trips in Canada, and due to limited availability it is recommended that you book early to avoid disappointment.
